GM works on new Chevy Cobalt |
|
May 26, 2008 - 3:32 PM - by Admin
|
What we have here is believed to be a preview of the next-generation Chevrolet Cobalt and Opel Astra.
The new small car is being developed by General Motors’ South Korean unit, GMDAT, with plenty of input from North American and European engineers.
The new Cobalt/Astra is being developed on a global front-drive platform that has been called Delta 2 and Global Compact Vehicle Architecture.
There will be sedan and coupe body styles. The coupe is expected to look sportier than the sedan, shown, and offer a turbocharged powerplant as an option.
The replacement Cobalt is expected to begin production at GM’s plant in Lordstown, Ohio, in late summer 2009, launching as a 2010 model.
